Brownstone

Written by Peter Larson and Josh Rubins, designed for San Diego State University's Experimental Theatre. Designed Fall 2004.
This was my first design for SDSU as a grad student, my first ever realized design of a musical. The script called for 4 apartments in a brownstone building in New York City, the mail box area, the hallway, the front stoop, the sidewalk in front of the building and the garbage well area. Added to this we needed a space for the small orchestra and a place for our 3 person chorus to retire while remaining on stage. The theatre space is flexible, I opted for a 3/4 thrust, my only requirements being the minumum number of seats I had to fit into the audience.
